Presentations & Training
Learning That Connects to Real Life
I believe the best presentations and trainings do more than give people information. They create space to pause, think, ask questions, explore ideas, and connect what we are learning to the people and situations we encounter in everyday life and work.
I offer presentations, workshops, trainings, and professional development for counselors and other helping professionals, as well as educators, students, organizations, community groups, parents, caregivers, and others who want to better understand the people they support. My work draws from years of experience as a counselor educator, clinician, supervisor, and trainer, with particular experience in grief and loss, trauma, crisis and suicide prevention, play, counseling practice, and professional development.
Not every topic needs to be taught to a clinical audience. Conversations about grief, trauma, suicide prevention, supporting children, mental health, crisis response, and creating more welcoming spaces can be meaningful for anyone who works with, cares for, teaches, or simply wants to better understand other people.
Wherever you are starting, I can work with you to create a learning experience that is thoughtful, practical, engaging, and connected to the people in the room.
Training Formats
Different groups need different kinds of learning. Some are looking for an engaging presentation to introduce a topic. Others want time to practice, discuss, and apply what they are learning. I offer several formats and can help you determine what fits your group best.
Presentations
A focused, engaging introduction to a specific topic. Presentations work well for conferences, staff meetings, professional organizations, university classes, community groups, and other settings where the goal is to learn, reflect, and start a conversation.
Workshops
A more interactive learning experience that gives participants an opportunity to engage with the material. Workshops may include discussion, activities, reflection, case examples, or opportunities to practice new skills.
Professional Development
Focused learning designed to support people in their ongoing work. Professional development can be offered for counselors and other helping professionals, educators, organizational teams, or anyone whose work involves supporting other people.
Intensive Trainings
For topics that deserve more time and depth, I offer half-day and full-day training experiences. These allow for deeper exploration, discussion, skill development, reflection, and opportunities to connect the material to participants’ own work.
Keynotes & Featured Sessions
Sometimes the goal is not to teach everything about a topic, but to create a meaningful starting point. Keynotes and featured sessions are designed to engage an audience, introduce important ideas, and leave people with something to think about long after the presentation ends.
Customized Learning Experiences
Your organization may have a particular question, challenge, population, or learning goal that does not fit neatly into a standard training. I can develop a presentation, workshop, or training specifically for your group and adapt the content, examples, activities, and format to fit your audience.
Not sure which format is right for you? That is okay. We can start with what you are hoping people will learn or take away from the experience, and I can help you determine the format that makes the most sense.
